Ready to visit Cassie's Closet?

Appointments typically last 45–60 minutes. Children are welcome and encouraged to come choose items they love.

Your gently-loved items can rewrite a child's first night in care.

When children enter foster care, they often arrive with only the clothes on their back. Your donations help us offer them warm coats, well-fitting shoes, and outfits that help them feel like themselves.

Most-needed items

  • New pajamas, socks, and underwear (all sizes)
  • Casual everyday clothing for kids & teens (sizes 4T–3XL)
  • Seasonal items: coats, jackets, boots, hats, and gloves
  • Shoes in youth and adult sizes, in very good condition
  • New toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant

Please note: We are unable to accept items that are stained, torn, overly worn, or have strong odors. Our goal is to offer foster children clothing that feels new-to-them and dignifying.

Donation drop-off details

To keep our space organized and welcoming for families, we accept donations during scheduled drop-off windows.

  • Drop-off by appointment to ensure a volunteer is available
  • Bag or box items by size and type when possible
  • Label bags with approximate sizes (e.g., "Girls 8–10")
  • Include a note with your email if you’d like a receipt

Prefer to give financially instead? Your gift helps us purchase high-need sizes and fill urgent gaps.

Every bag of clothing is a story of dignity.

Cassie's Closet exists because of a community that believes children in foster care deserve more than the bare minimum. Together, foster families and donors are rewriting first days of care—from trash bags and borrowed outfits to warm, personalized clothing and practical essentials.

Questions about Cassie's Closet

If you don’t see your question here, reach out and a volunteer will respond as soon as possible.

Is there any cost for foster families to visit?

No. All clothing and supplies at Cassie's Closet are provided at no cost to foster, kinship, and adoptive families. Our work is funded entirely through donations and community support.

Can children come with me to shop?

Yes, and we encourage it when possible. Many children enjoy choosing items that fit their style and personality. If you prefer to shop alone due to schedules or trauma considerations, that’s fine too.

How often can a family visit?

Most families visit when a new placement arrives or when a child has a significant size change or seasonal need. If you have an urgent need outside of a typical visit, please reach out—our goal is to help, not to enforce rigid rules.

Do you accept used car seats or cribs?

For safety and regulatory reasons, we typically cannot accept used car seats, cribs, or other large baby equipment unless specifically coordinated in advance. Please contact us before bringing these items so we can confirm current needs and safety guidelines.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Cassie's Closet partners with a local nonprofit organization, and most in-kind and financial gifts are tax-deductible. If you need a receipt, let us know at drop-off or include your email address with your donation.

Together, we can make foster care feel a little more like home.

Whether you’re parenting a child in care or looking for a meaningful way to give, Cassie's Closet is a place where your yes turns into practical love.
